LEARNING 2008 - 2009
Temple
Sinai
is committed to offering opportunities for and encouraging
Jewish learning. Although
still in the planning phase, adult learning offerings to date
for 2008 2009 are:

Torah Talk on
Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. facilitated by Rabbi Huntting.
Rabbi Huntting leads a discussion of an idea, a sentence,
a phrase or even a word. Our
group defines our pace. There
is no fee for this program.
Torah Talk begins for the season on November 5, 2008.

Brown Bag on
Wednesdays at 11:30 a.m. Facilitated
by Rabbi Huntting, the group will discuss a timely event based
on an article in the New York Times or the Sarasota
Herald-Tribune. Bring
your lunch. There is
no fee for this program. Brown
Bag resumes on November 5, 2008.

Rabbi Huntting will
teach an Introduction to Judaism course beginning on Tuesday
evening November 11, 2008 from 7:00 p.m. 8:30 p.m.
The course introduces the basic concepts of Jewish belief
and practice for anyone interested in learning about Judaism and
the Jewish people. Both
Jews wishing to increase their Jewish knowledge and non-Jews who
are interested in learning more about the Jewish people have
taken this course in the past.
The fee for the course, including books is $50 for
members and $65 for non-members.

Learn to leyn
(chant) Torah with Hazzan

. The Torah trope
class will be held from 7:00 p.m. 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday
evenings beginning on November 11, 2008.
Tuition for the course is $50 for members and $65 for
nonmembers; tuition includes all materials.
Participants must be able to read Hebrew.

Film Series 3:30 p.m. on November 11 and November 18.
Films for November will be announced at a later date.

Pirkei Avot 2
beginning on Tuesday November 11 at 12:00 taught by Rabbi Ari
Shapiro. The
prerequisite is Pirkei Avot 1 held last spring.
There is no charge for temple members.
The fee for non-members is $18.

Parenting Class
beginning on Tuesday November 11 at 7:00 p.m. 8:30 p.m.
Systematic Training to Effective Parenting (STEP) a
positive discipline approach to parenting.
Knowing how our child thinks and feels can make a world

Jewish Genealogy,
Tuesday, November 18 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Kim Sheintal of the Jewish Genealogical Society of
Southwest Florida will give an overview of genealogy and share
tools and methods for you to begin your personal search.
There is no charge for the program.
