Our Mission
Statement
Temple
Sinai
Religious
School
strives to promote the development of a positive Jewish identity by
providing students the opportunity to acquire knowledge of
Jewish culture, learn Jewish ethics and values, and gain
familiarity with ritual and liturgy in the context of
Reform Judaism. This
is accomplished in a supportive environment that enables
students to understand how Reform Judaism is relevant to
their lives today and by encouraging meaningful
relationships with teachers, staff, spiritual leaders,
family, peers and the broader Jewish Community.
Students will gain a basic understanding of Jewish
history and feel a connection with the state of
Israel
and world Jewry.
Jewish life is
meant to be experienced in community.
Through learning, celebrating and experiencing
life’s joys and challenges with other Jews we come to
understand and appreciate the richness of our heritage.
The
Temple
Sinai
Religious
School
is a microcosm of the larger Jewish community.
We want our students to be sustained during their
time with us, and into their futures, by the relationships
they form with each other and with our faculty.
Knowing that others share their history, beliefs,
values and practices is self-affirming and empowering as
our students grow into confident Jewish adults.
Developing
prayer competence and confidence is critical to feeling
comfortable in Jewish settings.
Our Hebrew program is designed to provide students
with the skills for Bar/Bat Mitzvah and for Jewish living.
We encourage
an atmosphere that supports questioning.
Our students
are engaged in age-appropriate activities that speak to
their multiple intelligences and varying abilities and
needs.
Parents are
children’s primary Jewish teachers.
By partnering with parents, our
Religious
School
program can support parents down this path and provide
opportunities for parents and children to learn and share
critical Jewish experiences.
