Services

Our Erev Shabbat Service will be held on Friday, May 9 at 6:00 p.m. when we will celebrate Yom Ha'atzmaut, Israel Independence Day.  The Service will be preceded by a Wine and Cheese Gathering sponsored by Robin and David Shapiro in honor of Marissa's Bat Mitzvah.  On Saturday, May 10 our Shabbat Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. when Marissa Shapiro will be called to the Torah as a Bat Mitzvah.

Our next Erev Shabbat Service will be held on Friday, May 16  at 6:00 p.m. when we will honor the Confirmation Class.  The Service will be preceded by a Wine and Cheese Gathering at 5:15 p.m. sponsored by Joyce and Daniel Stein in honor of Madison's Bat Mitzvah.  On Saturday, May 17 our Shabbat Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. when Madison Stein will be called to the Torah as a Bat Mitzvah.

All Erev Shabbat Services for June, July and August will be held at 6:00 p.m.  Summer Services will be preceded by a Wine and Cheese Gathering at 5:15 p.m.  If you wish to sponsor a Wine and Cheese Gathering please contact the office.  The cost for the Wine and Cheese Gathering is $300.

The Temple Sinai 2008 Directories are now available for pick up in the temple office.  They are also available for pick up at the Wine and Cheese Gathering prior to the service.

Magical Mondays at Mattison's Forty-One, 7275 South Tamiami Trail.   As a fundraising opportunity, Mattison's will remit 10% of your bill to Temple Sinai when you dine at Mattison's on Monday evenings.  Mention Temple Sinai to your server and Temple Sinai will receive 10% of your bill!

Celebrate Mother's Day with an afternoon concert of special music by Hazzan Cliff Abramson on Sunday, May 11 at 3:30 p.m.  The program is open to the public.  There is no charge for Temple Sinai members; the charge for non-members is $10 at the door.  Invite your friends and neighbors to share this musical afternoon.

The Temple Sinai Men's Club Annual Golf Outing will be held on Tuesday, May 13 at 8:30 a.m.  For details and reservations contact Vic Block at 907-0892.

The Women of Sinai Book Club will meet on Thursday, May 15 at 1:00 p.m. to select the books for next year.

Please join us for a special Erev Shabbat Confirmation Service on Friday, May 16 at 6:00 p.m. when  the Confirmation Class of 2008 will lead us in prayer.  This year's Confirmands are:  Kelly Alvarez, Chelsea Dennis, Sara Freund, Steven Freund, Laurabeth Goldsmith, Florentine Kastelik, Victoria Morris, Zachary Morrison, Taylor Schwimmer, Lillie Tavill, Leo Tuck.

Temple Sinai's Annual Congregation Meeting will be held on Sunday, May 18 at 4:30 p.m. in the sanctuary.  During the meeting there will be reports from the outgoing and incoming presidents, vice presidents and officers, a vote on the slate of 2008-2009 officers and trustees, a vote on a bylaw change and installation of the new board of trustees.  An Italian dinner thanking outgoing President, Richard Greensapn and welcoming incoming President, Howard Raiken follows the meeting.  Reservations for the congregational dinner are required by May 13.

The last Torah Talk and Brown Bag for the season will be held on Wednesday, May 21.
