Rabbi Samantha Kahn

About Rabbi Kahn:

Rabbi Samantha Kahn is a dynamic and approachable rabbi and we are thrilled to have her serving our Sinai Family. With additional degrees in Nonprofit Management and Jewish Communal Service, this former Gator is an experienced preacher, teacher, counselor, facilitator, innovative programmer and confidant.  She recently served as San Francisco Bay Area Director for InterfaithFamily and Director of Sherith Littles, at Congregation Sherith Israel, San Francisco. Prior to that she served as the Assistant Rabbi of Congregation Emanu El, in Houston, TX, where she was nicknamed the ‘Chief Engagement Officer’ for her warm presence and ability to create meaningful connections.

Born into the vibrant Jewish community of Miami, Florida, Rabbi Kahn deeply values the multitude of organizations that have enriched her life and which exist to serve our community. An active supporter of Jewish Nonprofits, she also previously served as co-president and Interim Chair of the Board of Rabbis of Northern California. She has been involved in much community work during her career, has authored many articles, and received several honors over the years.  Married to Matt Kahn, a passionate and impressive Jewish Communal professional in his own right, Rabbi Kahn is also a devoted wife and mother. Her children, Roey & Stella Mae, are the light of her life.

Rabbi Kahn’s Vision for her Rabbinate:

I strive to transform Jewish values into meaningful existence by connecting with people – whoever and wherever they are on their life’s journey – and offering traditions, values, and community to enrich their voyage. I seek to be a kind and welcoming presence accompanying people throughout their lives; trying to be a mensch, a prophetic voice, to offer a safe and encouraging space to help others grow, to serve as a partner in celebration and sharing joy, and a guide that can help transform pain and brokenness into meaningful living.
