Social Action and Justice

Social Action Mission Statement

We, as Jews, are commanded to pursue justice, and to participate in Tikkun Olam “Repairing the World.”  The Temple Sinai Social Action Committee seeks to involve the congregation in serving and empowering those who are disadvantaged or in need.  We wish to educate and motivate congregation members and provide avenues for adults, youth and children to do Social Action.

Our social action activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Year-round food collection for the All Faiths Food Bank that kicks off with the Annual Connie Zingerman High Holiday Food Drive
  • Our Adopt-a-Road program
  • Military care packages
  • Participation in Sarasota County’s Adopt-a-Road program.
  • Mitzvah Day – a day when our temple family participates in volunteer activities that benefit our community and make a difference in people’s lives

Other on-going collections include children’s books for the HIPPY (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters) program, used clothing for Mothers Helping Mothers, eyeglasses for Eye Care International and hearing aids for the Lions Club.
